The cat is out of the bag when it comes to Xiaomi‘s latest and greatest smartphone. Launched in China late last year, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra combines a 50MP primary, 50MP ultra-wide, 50MP primary and 200MP telephoto cameras with a 6,800mAh silicon-carbon battery and the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset found in other modern flagships like the OnePlus 15 (currently $899 on Amazon).
Arguably, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also the first next-generation Ultra-branded smartphone. However, it may not be the first to receive an international release. Unfortunately, one of the most important selling points of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may not grace the global model of the device. For this generation, Xiaomi is expected to limit its Ultra smartphone globally with a 6000mAh battery, which is about 12% behind its Chinese counterpart.
Incidentally, this is the same battery capacity as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in the Chinese version. Also, early results show that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will offer 90W wired charging capability, whether you choose the global model or the Chinese import.
As of right now, the Find X9 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Vivo X300 Ultra will all debut within a few weeks from late February to early April. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra may also make its international debut around this time, Xiaomi is expected to present the device during MWC 2026 between March 2 and March 5.
