Like most superheroes, Simon recovered from his death, once again resurrecting learning that his ionic abilities make him functionally immortal. Still, resurrection isn’t easy, so Simon gets a little help from his best friend The Beast in the three-part series Marvel Two: Wonder Man and the Beast. The bromance between Wonder Man and Beast was a highlight of the duo’s tenure on the Avengers, making this reunion—after more than a few bumps in the road for both characters—a welcome return.
Of course, comics being comics, things aren’t nearly as low-key as Wonder Man hoped. Writer Roger Stern, who penned some of the best Avengers issues with Simon and Beast, and artist Mark Bagley pit the duo against terrorists, supervillains, and even MephistoMarvel’s version of the devil. Crazy as the adventure gets, Marvel Two reminds readers why Wonder Man and The Beast are Marvel’s best buds.
