– Unfortunately, there will be no TV broadcast or live stream of the women’s national team’s preparatory matches in Norway. In recent days, the Hungarian Handball Association has been continuously discussing the possibilities of the stream and has gone to the limit of its realistic possibilities, but the Norwegian rights holder has not done the same, so to our greatest regret, the matches will not be visible in Hungary – the Hungarian Handball Association announced the bad news right before the match against Serbia that the preparatory meetings of the Hungarian women’s handball team in Norway will be invisible. However, the Posten Cup is the main test before the World Cup…
Invisible women’s handball team
Understandably, the negative developments were not welcomed by handball fans.
The officials tried to ease the fans’ indignation, and on the official social media page of the association, they indicated from time to time how the match was going in text form.
Based on this, Hungary led 15-10 after the first half, with Petra Tóvizi taking the lead, Vlagyimir Golovin asking for time at 5-5, and then Katrin Klujber pulled ahead 8-5 and 11-6. According to the terse report, the team captain missed a penalty and we were down several times. At halftime, the score was 15-10 in favor of the Hungarian team.
It was tight throughout
The more voracious fans found internet broadcasts already available, so we also took advantage of this to watch the second half. The Serbians closed to 16-13, but the left winger Júlia Hársfalvi, called in place of the injured Fodor Csenge, came into the frame, and then the opponent asked for time when we were ahead 22-17. Anna Albek shot the 23rd goal in a tundered manner, but Anna Bukovszky, who replaced Janurik Kinga, often had to take the ball out of the net.
So much so that the Dragoslavjevics went up 23-21, the winger then shot the young goalkeeper from Esztergom in the head, for which he received a red card.
Attacking with a double man advantage, Albek, who showed good shooting form, scored our new goal before the South Slavs got a bloodbath. Dragana Cvijic kept Serbia in the competition from fullback, while her Ferencváros teammate Katrin Klubjer flashed in a foreign position, as a right winger, practically ending the match at 28-24. There were three more minutes left, but only one goal was scored. At the end, our national team captain asked for time, and then we could practice one last attacking situation: the girls scored!
The Hungarian women’s handball team beat Serbia 29-25 and will compete against Norway on Saturday. The host of the preparatory tournament had a gala time at the opening, Nora Mörké beat the Spaniards 41-19.
Why the event was not widely seen in Hungary is a big mystery. Just like that, what does Katrin Klujber, who was chosen as the best Hungarian of the match, do with the prize of one thousand crowns…
