The 2025 WNBA commissioner’s Cup is in full swing, highlighted by the
seattle Storm’s victory over the Minnesota Lynx, marking the Lynx’s first
defeat this season and shaking up the Western Conference standings.In the
Eastern Conference, the New York Liberty
are well-positioned to contend for the championship for the third consecutive
year.
Commissioner’s Cup competition continues Friday with matchups between the
Chicago Sky and the Atlanta Dream, and the Dallas Wings versus the Las Vegas
Aces.
Under the new format, each team will face every other team in their
conference once between June 1-17. Eastern Conference teams will play five
games, while Western Conference teams will play six due to the addition of
the expansion Valkyries.
The team with the best record in each conference will advance to the
Commissioner’s Cup championship on July 1. The championship game will be
hosted by the team with the highest overall winning percentage during the Cup
games. A $500,000 prize pool is at stake.
