SONNENTOR has stood for organic cultivation, sustainable management and regional value creation for more than three decades. With organic herbs, teas and spices, SONNENTOR, a partner company in the WKNÖ regionality campaign #ichkauflokal, sets standards for responsible entrepreneurship.
During a company visit to the SONNENTOR store in the state capital, WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker and St. Pölten‘s WKNÖ district office chairman Mario Burger got an idea of the company. Wolfgang Ecker was impressed: “SONNENTOR is a model company for Lower Austria. The company impressively proves that innovation, sustainability and economic success are not a contradiction – but a strong model for success for our location.”
District office chairman Mario Burger underlined the importance of the company for Lower Austria and especially for St. Pölten: “SONNENTOR creates high-quality jobs, some of them in St. Pölten, strengthens regional value chains and is also an important source of inspiration in the state capital.” And: “Whoever buys locally strengthens local businesses, maintains jobs and keeps our town centers alive,” Burger and Ecker know about the importance of local shopping. At the same time, every euro spent locally stays in the region. This is also proven by figures from SME Research Austria for the 2025 Christmas season. 36 percent of Lower Austrians wanted to shop more locally this year, 22 percent consciously chose regional products more often and 22 percent planned to shop in Austrian online shops.
Regionality campaign #ichkauflocal
The cross-industry regionality campaign #ichkauflocal by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce is clearly in favor of regionality in Lower Austria. There are currently 24 regional voucher systems listed on this platform, which cover the most important shopping cities in Lower Austria – from Amstetten to St. Pölten to Wiener Neustadt. This means recipients can choose from a variety of regional offers and at the same time strengthen local trade.
