As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, CD Projekt RED has announced that it is indeed developing a final patch for “The Witcher 3.” The update, expected later this year, will introduce mod support to the PlayStation 5 version of the role-playing game.

In a blog post, the developer stated: “Later this year, we will release one more patch for ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io. Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem.”

The ability to upload, share, and download mods for the game will be free. The feature is coming to the current generation of platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox series X|S, and PC. It will not be added to the original PlayStation 4 version.

Mod Creation Exclusively on PC

CD Projekt RED clarified that not every mod uploaded to PC will be available on the console versions “due to specific content guidelines and selection criteria.” If you want to create your own mods, you will need to do so on PC. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will only be able to download them.
