Dorohedoro’s Sequel Is a Big Win For Dark Fantasy Fans in 2026

After six years since the completion of its debut season, Dorohedoro is back for Season 2 with a ton of momentum behind it. The last time audiences saw Caiman and Nikaido, they barely escaped the watchful eye of En, leaving everyone on a cliffhanger that would go unresolved for over half a decade. MAPPA is back to adapt the next chapter of the story, promising yet another season of flawless animation and faithful re-telling of Q Hayashida’s dark-fantasy story.

Following the events of Nikaido’s contract signing with En, she looks to avoid coming into contact with him in Dorohedoro Season 2, while Caiman and the group figure out a solution out of the mess. Contracts are designed to bond two sorcerers together, and getting too close to the bonded partner casts a mind-controlling spell that can turn Nikaido into a mindless shell. The search also continues for Caiman and the sorcerer that changed him into a lizard-headed monster, as the story leans closer to resolving the matter once and for all.

When a character that is pure and cannot tell a lie suddenly finds herself in a twisted game where money is on the line, values are tested. Liar Game is about a tournament where players are put into situations where they must lie to keep an inherited fortune, a large sum of money, or risk falling into an incredible debt. This series lacks the action of many other adaptations releasing in the spring, but where it makes up for it is in the drawn-out, anxiety-inducing sequences between characters.

After opening a briefcase with 100-million yen, Nao Kanzaki accidentally accepts an offer to join a high-stakes game that pits her against other contestants hoping to leave with the money. The only issue is that Nao is brutally honest to a fault, and a game where one must deceive others is beyond her realm of possibility. That’s where Shinichi Akiyama, a con-man and former convict, comes in, as he aims to help her win the tournament, and perhaps get a taste of the winnings.

While being scheduled for Spring 2026, Rooster Fighter‘s first episode is already available on Hulu and Adult Swim as an early US release, but is expected to release worldwide in April. Possibly one of the craziest concepts for an anime series, Rooster Fighter is an action comedy that centers around the story of Keiji, a literal rooster that can fight, and his day-to-day life of protecting the world from behemoth monsters and otherworldly creatures.

Substituting serious and mature themes, Rooster Fighter is the perfect type of series for those looking to have a good laugh and not have to overthink convoluted plot lines. Despite its light-hearted nature, studio SANZIGEN does a wonderful job animating this adaptation, giving life to a rooster that will peck and kick anything in its way. It may not be a series for everyone, but Rooster Fighter‘s debut is already an immediate success and indicates this clucking and plucking adventure is here for the long haul.
