- The Wisconsin Badgers have lost three consecutive games, dropping their record to 2-3.
- Wisconsin has fallen to No. 54 in ESPN’s Football Power Index after recent losses.
The Wisconsin Badgers (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) are reeling after Week 6, having lost three consecutive games to Alabama, Maryland and Michigan, respectively, all by at least two touchdowns.
While the Crimson Tide and Wolverines are in the mix for the College Football Playoff and the Terrapins appear much-improved after a poor 2024 campaign, the results have seen the Badgers drop precipitously in most relevant rating metrics. Specifically, Wisconsin is down to No. 54 in ESPN’s Football Power Index and No. 68 in SP+. Those marks are far below the program’s typical top-25 ranking over the last several decades, plus a big step back from its No. 40 position entering the 2025 season.
Luke Fickell‘s team could soon enter must-win mode for it to have any chance at bowl eligibility. Up next is a critical home matchup with rival Iowa (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten), the No. 35 team in FPI and No. 39 in SP+.
The Hawkeyes unsurprisingly opened as narrow favorites. However, the line is worth watching as each team’s quarterback situation gains clarity.
