The USA is preparing for a new winter storm, reported France Presse, quoted by BTA. According to meteorologists, there will be heavy snowfall in the southern parts of the Atlantic coast, in particular in the states of Virginia, North and South Carolina.
They will start from today. In addition, there will be a strong wind. The polar cold will also reach the Florida peninsula.
The forecasts were released just days after parts of the country were hit by a powerful winter storm, causing significant disruption to transport traffic and knocking out electricity in many places. The storm caused and the death of over 100 people in the country.
About 250,000 customers are still without power in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana, according to the specialized website “PowerOutage”. And some streets in Washington are still not cleared of snow.
The National Weather Service reported that up to 50 centimeters of snow fell in areas north of Pittsburgh and temperatures dropped to minus 31 degrees.
In a number of states, authorities have declared a state of emergency and emergency services have set up heating and shelter centers for people in need. Residents were urged to limit travel, keep their home heating systems in working order and heed warnings from the National Weather Service.
