Several content creators have reported that YouTube started removing videos for no good reason. Some videos explained how to install Windows 11 on incompatible computers and without a Microsoft account. Systems based on artificial intelligence could be to blame, but the Mountain View company has denied this.
Violation of guidelines
Following the retirement of Windows 10, users are “forced” to use it Windows 11if they still want to receive security updates. However, many PCs do not satisfy the hardware requirements minimums of the new operating system, so it is necessary to take advantage of a tool, such as Rufus or Flyoobe, which allows you to bypass the checks during installation.
The Redmond company subsequently added two other obligations: Internet connection and account Microsoft. They are YouTube There are many videos that explain how to get around these two requirements (one involves choosing a domain). Among the most popular are those of the CyberCPU Tech channel. Its owner (Rich White) reported two videos removed from the platform without a valid reason. This is the response I got after appealing the decision:
The warning was issued due to violations of the Harmful or Dangerous Content Policy, which prohibits content that encourages or promotes dangerous behavior and that encourages dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or death.
The justification is clearly absurd, given that installing Windows 11 does not cause any physical harm. It’s not even illegal, as the creator of the videos clearly specifies that a valid license is required. White therefore suspects that the response is automated. THE’artificial intelligence mistakenly considered that circumventing the requirements is piracy.
Microsoft did not provide any clarification. A YouTube spokesperson said the initial decision and response to the appeal were not automation issues. The two videos have been restored (link 1 and link 2), but the real reason for their removal remains unknown.
