WhatsApp Subscription: New Features May Require Payment – Maramures Online

The messaging app WhatsApp may introduce a new subscription plan in the near future aimed at users who want more options for personalizing and organizing conversations. The project, still in the development phase, would be called WhatsApp Plus and might bring additional features available only to those who choose the paid version of the app.

The new service would be available on phones using the operating systems Android and iOSand access to these options would require the payment of a monthly fee. With this strategy, the company tries to align with the trend in the digital application industry, where more and more platforms offer premium features for users who want a more complex and flexible experience.

Information about this plan was reported by the specialized portal WABetaInfoknown for monitoring app test builds and discovering features still in development. According to published data, WhatsApp Plus would introduce more customization tools, including the ability to change the app’s theme, interface colors, and even the program’s icon.

In total, users could have about 14 different icon variants, each with different styles and colors, so that the appearance of the application can be more easily adapted according to everyone’s preferences. Another important change would concern the way in-app conversations are organized.

The Plus variant could allow up to 20 conversations to be pinned to the top of the screen, well beyond the current limit of three chats that can be kept permanently visible. Such an option would facilitate quick access to the discussions considered most important, be it family, close friends or work-related conversations.

The subscription could also bring additional options for calls made directly from the app. Users who choose the paid version could select exclusive ringtones, different from the standard ones, to customize the notifications they receive. These sounds would allow quick recognition of calls received through WhatsApp without confusing them with regular phone calls or notifications generated by other applications installed on the phone.

At the moment, WhatsApp Plus is not available to the public as the project is still under development. The company hasn’t announced the price of the subscription either, and information so far suggests that other exclusive features, such as special stickers or more interactive reactions to messages, could be added down the road.

Even though the subscription plan will be launched, users who don’t want to pay will still be able to use the basic features of the app for free. Sending messages, audio and video calls, voice messages, photo sharing or group chats will remain available in the standard version, just like before.
