Holzeisen Questions Galateo’s Shifting Stance on COVID Measures
Renate Holzeisen, a prominent member of the Vita state parliament, has voiced her surprise and concern regarding what she perceives as a contradictory approach to COVID-19 management by Marco Galateo, a representative of Fratelli d’Italia. This critique arises in the wake of online advertisements released by Fratelli d’Italia earlier this year, boldly proclaiming, We are unmasking the Covid malagestation.
Holzeisen’s skepticism stems from Galateo’s voting record in conjunction with the SVP (Südtiroler Volkspartei),where he allegedly opposed motions put forth by Team K and other parties. These motions aimed to enhance transparency concerning the scientific basis and legal justification for the COVID-19 measures implemented in South Tyrol.
transparency and Accountability in Pandemic Response
Holzeisen questions the sincerity of Galateo’s public stance, stating:
So why this excitement, when that is,standing, the FDI State Council Galateo in this matter in fact a mockery of the announcement that has been advertised online and is part of his voters?
Renate Holzeisen,Vita state parliament member
She suggests that Galateo’s actions in the state parliament contradict the message conveyed in the online advertisements, potentially misleading his constituents.
divergent Voting Records and Public Statements
Holzeisen further points out that the Fratelli d’Italia’s involvement in COVID-19 related votes in South Tyrol has been limited, primarily consisting of abstentions by MP Anna scarafoni. This contrasts sharply with the party’s vocal criticism of the government’s handling of the pandemic.
Holzeisen elaborates on this discrepancy:
In my press releases to the various decision-making applications, I have explained this curious circumstance that even tho it is indeed announced somewhat large-scale, but the voting behavior in the state parliament is exactly the opposite. Marco Galateo, together with SVP and Team K, not only against the necessary transparency in the future application of the PCR test products, but also against compliance with the medical prescription obligation and the suspension of the experimental so-called COVID-19-, vaccinations’ in particular on pregnant women.
Renate Holzeisen,Vita state parliament member
This raises concerns about the consistency between public pronouncements and actual legislative actions, notably regarding PCR testing, medical prescriptions, and COVID-19 vaccinations, especially for vulnerable populations like pregnant women.
Mask Mandates and Future Political Alignment
Holzeisen also recalls her April application concerning penalties for not wearing masks outdoors, a measure implemented by the South Tyrolean state government through the South Tyrolean catchment service AG.She anticipates a similar outcome, predicting that Galateo and other MPs will once again fail to support her position.
Holzeisen concludes with a rhetorical question:
Betting that again the same MPs, including Marco Galateo, are not supported again?
Renate Holzeisen, Vita state parliament member
This statement underscores the ongoing political divisions and the challenges in achieving consensus on COVID-19 related policies in South Tyrol. The situation highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in government decision-making, especially during times of crisis.
