Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile to Cease operations

Archynetys.com – In a surprising turn of events, Activision has announced the discontinuation of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, just over a year after its initial launch in March 2024.

Performance Shortfall Leads to Closure

Activision cited the game’s failure to meet player retention expectations as the primary reason for the shutdown. Despite initial enthusiasm, the mobile adaptation of the popular battle royale title struggled to maintain a consistent player base, leading to the difficult decision to pull the plug.

Immediate Changes and Final Dates

The immediate impact of this decision is the cessation of all real-money purchases of COD points within the game. The game will be removed from both the Google Play Store and the App Store on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Social features within the mobile platform will also be disabled on this date.

Activision’s Statement: Acknowledging Disappointment

Activision expressed gratitude for the support received from players but acknowledged the game’s shortcomings in a public statement:

We deeply thank you for your dedication and passion for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. From now on, we will reduce the scope of the game. This decision was made after a careful analysis of several factors and, even though we are proud to bring a authentic version of Call of Duty: Warzone for Mobile, regrettably the game did not achieve our expectations with the audiences, as happened with the hearings, as happened with the hearings of PC and console.
