Warre Blokken: Episode 18 Analysis & ‘I Don’t Know’ Moment

“It’s packed here. People want to witness the eighteenth episode of Warre,” Ben Crabbé opened the episode. He also showed a photo of champion Warre with his brother Jens. “Warre promised ten percent of all a while ago Blocks-income to his brother,” Crabbé remembered. That amount is now a nice sum of 1,700 euros. “More than the pension of many people,” Crabbé knew.

Warre remained visibly sober in the game. “It’s starting from scratch every time. Every time I have to earn it back,” he said. “I was also lucky. In my second episode I was almost out due to a stupid mistake and I was only able to make the difference with the last question.”

The opponent in Wednesday’s episode was Frederik Aertsens, a Mechelen resident who had emigrated to Brussels because he works for the European Chemicals Federation. He works there as a lawyer.

In the first episode there was no stopping Warre again. It became 260-120. The damage was limited because Frederik was able to make two more lines at the end.

Round 2? Frederik managed to score 290 points, but Warre – who even had some bad luck with the blocks – again scored 550 points. Like all previous episodes, Warre’s opponent could no longer take the lead in the third round. But 1,030 – 760 was not a disappointment for the Malinois.

Warre entered the final with ‘cancel appointment’. It was noticeable that some of the questions were quite tough. Who knows author Quinten Jacobs? Where is the philtrum located on your body? Who knows the bird ciconia ciconia? With only a few seconds left, Warre was already looking for the word, because he had all the letters. The time was up when he hesitantly shouted ‘obstacle’. That was correct, but it was clear that Warre got through the eye of the needle. “I find it hard to believe. I don’t know that word,” he said honestly. “I only know an ellipsis.”

Everyone’s relief was enormous. Things almost went wrong, but the loot was inside. On to episode nineteen!
