Fraudsters have recently harassed thousands of consumers on the phone. There is a call center with a number of numbers behind the Juni Spam wave.
Dortmund – telephone fraud seems to be worthwhile. Especially for a call center. Behind more than half of the spam calls reported in June is the same telephone center based in Hamburg-recognizable in the area code 040. Criminals change their telephone numbers every day to avoid locks. Affected people can still defend themselves effectively and should avoid certain errors.

Warning of 10 phone numbers: fraudsters are always brazen
The number 040 855983155 was blocked over 1,000 times in June alone. A person concerned reports: “This number several times every day. When I rose without a word. They asked whether my husband wanted to extend his gambling contract. When I explained that he never did something like that and died in December 2023.
The callers are also particularly perfidious behind the number 0163 4564718. They claim that the victim has participated in a competition and must now terminate a subscription. Otherwise, 80 euros would be due from next month. With number 0211 95586809, the fraudsters put on time pressure and claim that payments for a subscription are in arrears.
Why are spam calls still so popular?
Spam calls are still a great annoyance. They regularly reach record values in Germany and primarily affect mobile phones. The callers often pretend as a competition organizer, service provider or even as a consumer center.
The reason for the popularity: spam calls are very cheap and effective for fraudsters and advertisers. They use automated systems to reach many people at the same time. Personal data from data leaks or social networks make it easy for callers to take precedence.

Spam phone numbers in June: Callers constantly change the end numbers
The fraudsters behind the Hamburg numbers have refined their tactics. They use the same number block, but often change the final digits. A person affected by the number 040 855983156 reports: “Although the numbers have been blocked, the harassment continues because the caller changed the final number three weeks.”
This strategy makes it more difficult for consumers to block all variants. Some callers even pretend to be a termination service from Lotto24 or claim that the legislator has changed notice periods for competitions. But how should those affected best react to such calls?
