The Irish Restaurant Awards have officially kicked off their 16th annual celebration, inviting the public to vote for their favorite restaurants and chefs across Ireland. This renowned event, organized by the Restaurants Association of Ireland in collaboration with The Irish Times, acknowledges the exceptional talent and creativity in the Irish hospitality industry.
Calling All Food Lovers: Nominate Your Favorites
This year, the awards offer an extensive range of categories to honor diverse aspects of the industry. Participants can submit nominations for 23 categories, including 18 core awards and five national awards. New this year is the Best Use of Social Media award, recognizing the essential role social media plays in promoting Irish restaurants.
The public nomination process is currently underway and will close at noon on January 29th. All nominations should be submitted via an online platform hosted by The Irish Times. You can access the voting page here.
Win Exciting Prizes
In addition to supporting your favorite restaurants and chefs, voters have a chance to enter a draw for an overnight stay at one of two prestigious Blue Book properties. Winners will enjoy a bed and breakfast as well as a dinner for two at either The Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge in Limerick or Ghan House in Carlingford, Louth.
Nomination Categories
The diversity of categories ensures there is something for everyone to appreciate. From Best Restaurant and Best Chef to Outstanding Contribution to the Industry, nominees are evaluated not only on their culinary skills but also on their overall contribution to the hospitality sector. This year’s new category, Best Use of Social Media, highlights the increasing importance of digital engagement in the restaurant industry.
Judging and Winners
Once all nominations are submitted, a panel of national experts will review the entries. Regional winners will be revealed at events held in the four provinces of Ireland in March and April. These events offer an opportunity for local communities to celebrate the excellence of their favorite dining spots. The shortlist for the national awards will be announced in Dublin.
In previous years, Cork restaurants have shone particularly bright. Last year, Dede at the Custom House Baltimore claimed the Best Restaurant in Ireland title, and Aishling Moore of Goldie was awarded Best Chef in Ireland. This year, the Irish Restaurant Awards continue to spotlight the brilliant chefs and food providers across the country.
Final Gala
On May 19th, the prestigious All Ireland Awards Finale will take place at Dublin 4’s Clayton Hotel, where the overall regional and national winners will be crowned. This event also includes the presentation of awards such as Best Restaurant, Best Chef, and more. For ticket information and event details, visit the official website at irishrestaurantawards.com.
