Ballot Box Fires: Volvo S-60 Linked to Multiple Incidents

Law Enforcement Officials Link Black Volvo S-60 to Botched Ballot Box Fires in Clark County

Law enforcement officials have identified a black or dark-colored Volvo S-60 as being linked to two recent ballot box fires in Clark County, Oregon. The car was also connected to a third earlier this month. This suggests that a potential suspect may be targeting ballot boxes in Portland and Vancouver.

Tough Task for Investigators

Tracking down the car and the individuals believed to be involved in the tampering is proving to be a challenging task for investigators. The Volvo S-60 did not have a front license plate, and the rear license plate was described as "unknown." The lack of identifiable distinguishing features makes it difficult for authorities to pinpoint the car and locate the perpetrators.

Identification of the Volvo

In Oregon alone, there are 3,828 registered Volvo S-60s. Among these, only 558 have valid registrations, which means the rest are canceled, expired, or transferred. This large pool of unregistered vehicles complicates efforts to identify the specific car involved in the incident.

Call for Information from the Public

Police are asking anyone with information on the Volvo or the tampering of ballot boxes to come forward. They can contact Detective Meredith Hopper via email at Meredith.Hopper@police.portlandoregon.gov or call the PF&R Fire Investigation Unit’s tip line, 503-823-FIRE (3473), and reference case number 24-276181.
