At 18 years old and never having a day of poor care in his life, Virgil is 100% sound and on top of his game.
Beloved by his owner Vern McDonald and his person, Tyson Cardinal, the decision to retire the horse who clearly loves everything about his job isn’t an easy call but gets easier when you can choose to retire your horse a happy winner and not get him beaten as age takes its toll.
As for Virgil? He’ll retire back to the rich grasslands of Northern Alberta with friends and continue to lead the herd. They’ll write songs.
Virgil is this year’s ICON award winner. Please join us at the BRN Awards at Westgate’s lovely Cabaret next Wednesday at 12 noon.
