Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka Inspects Free Nutritious Meal Program in Jakarta Schools

In a significant move to monitor and enhance the free nutritious meal program, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited two public schools in Ciracas Sub-district, East Jakarta. His objective was to ensure that students receive meals that are both nutritious and safe.

Greeting Students with Warmth

On Wednesday, VP Gibran interacted warmly with students at Junior High School SMPN 174 and High School SMAN 58 Jakarta. The students were enthusiastic, asking questions as they enjoyed their free, healthy lunches. This initiative is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s government’s efforts to improve students’ dietary needs.

Observing the Menus

Accompanied by the principal of SMPN 174, Mujiningsih, VP Gibran carefully observed the lunch menus. The offerings at SMPN 174 included rice, fried chicken, stewed tofu, greens, salak fruit, and a carton of milk. At SMAN 58, the students were served rice, chicken katsu, tofu, chickpeas, and bananas.

Ensuring Meal Quality and Hygiene

VP Gibran emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in the distribution and serving of meals. He instructed schools and meal providers to conduct daily inspections to ensure the meals meet quality benchmarks. Food hygiene and safety were at the forefront of his concerns, and he highlighted the necessity of clean environments throughout meal preparation.

Encouraging Responsible Eating Habits

Another key point of his visit was to encourage students to avoid wasting food. VP Gibran suggested that any leftover food should be taken home to ensure no nourishment is lost, a principle that aligns with his commitment to sustainable practices.
