A somber note marked Sunday’s judicial elections in Poza Rica, Veracruz, as an elderly woman died while waiting to cast her vote. The incident occurred at a school in Poza Rica, Veracruz.
The woman, approximately 60 years old, collapsed at the Luis Escudero Arenas primary school in the Guadalupe Victoria neighborhood. Witnesses reported that she was waiting in line to vote when she suddenly fell to the ground.
First responders were called to the scene, but their efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.Paramedics pronounced the woman dead, attributing the cause to a heart attack.
Voting Suspended After Death
Following the woman’s death,authorities temporarily suspended voting at the affected polling station,identified as box 3138. Electoral activity was paused for approximately two hours while officials processed the scene and arranged for the removal of the body.
“When he realized that the woman was on the floor,people approached to try to help her and even made the call to an ambulance.”
The woman’s identity has not yet been released. After the authorities completed their work, voting resumed at the polling station.
