Venice Biennale honors indigenous artists

2024-04-20 14:27:48

The Venice Art Biennale is all about the feeling of being foreign. The organizers are setting an example and awarding the most important prizes to indigenous artists.

Venice.

Even at the first glance at the colorful building of the main exhibition at the Venice Art Biennale, it becomes clear what the organizers are about: setting an example. A Brazilian group whose artists belong to the South American indigenous Huni Kuin tribe designed the facade. What the Biennale promises when you enter the Giardini, it now also delivers at the awards ceremony. Indigenous artists received the most important prizes at the official opening on Saturday.

The Australian Archie Moore and the New Zealand artist group Mataaho Collective were awarded two Golden Lions by the international jury. Their work deals with the history and traditions of the indigenous people of Australia and New Zealand. In particular, the feeling of foreignness that indigenous people often feel in their own countries is particularly prominent for them.

Migration and exile are the focus

The works by Moore and the Mataaho Collective fit into the theme of the main exhibition of the world-famous art event.

[OSEN=오세진 기자] ‘Amazing Saturday’ Choi Yena was inducted into the Hall of Fame after just one year.

In the tvN entertainment show ‘Amazing Saturday’ (hereafter referred to as ‘Nolto’), which aired on the 20th, the main characters of the new season of ‘Girl’s Chili Club’ Jiyoon Park, Yena Choi, and Vivi appeared.

Choi Yena was compared to Kim Dong-hyun from the moment she appeared. His slightly immature look and odd way of expressing himself was similar to Kim Dong-hyun. Kim Dong-hyun said, “If there’s a Kim Dong-hyun in ‘The Great Escape,’ isn’t there a Choi Yena in ‘Girl’s Chili Club?” But Choi Yena said, “I’m different from Seasons 1 and 2. I was eating from behind and scared. This time it changed. He is a completely different person. He vehemently denied this, saying, “Wait for the charisma.”

Those who managed to taste a pile of boiled ribs after successfully completing the third round of the first round gave their impressions about the taste and revealed the true similarities between Choi Yena and Kim Dong-hyun.

Park Ji-yoon made an excellent comment, saying, “You can feel the softness of pork ribs and the softness of braised beef ribs,” but Kim Dong-hyun surprised everyone by saying,

what we know is that we dont know much

“What we know is that we don’t know much. » This slogan would certainly be less effective for 24-hour news channels, but it would be the most accurate to summarize the hours of live, duplex and debate built on almost nothing in recent days. On BFM-TV in particular, the speculations and hypotheses surrounding the death of little Emile, whose skull was found and identified at the end of March, made it possible to fill entire days of airtime.

Tuesday April 9, the discovery of new bones belonging to the child once again fueled the machine of the great void. “We don’t know precisely which bone it is”warns a journalist, while another recalls that“At this stage it is still impossible to know what happened to him”, and a third emphasizes that “all hypotheses are on the table [et que] caution remains in order”.

In short, nothing new in the last ten days, but that doesn’t stop us from talking about it for hours.

For many young people of the 1970s, the Carnation Revolution represented the ideal of change at hand. «The only tangible revolution», says Marco Ferrari today, who wrote an extraordinary book about that freedom hangover To the revolution on the Two Horsesnow republished by Laterza, enriched by the sequel 50 years later («in memory of Antonio Tabucchi», the most Portuguese of Italian writers). Jeroen Akkermans is combative when it comes to justice surrounding the death of cameraman Stan Storimans from Goirle. Storimans was killed in Georgia in 2008 when he was making a report for RTL News and hit a Russian rocket with cluster munitions. Akkermans wants the perpetrators to be brought to justice. “There is such a thing as justice and that is what we are entitled to.”

In 2008, Akkermans and his cameraman were in the evacuated city of Gori to report on civilians left behind. At that time, the war between Russia and Georgia was raging. While Storimans was shooting images, a cluster bomb hit the square. Akkermans was injured, but cameraman Stan Storimans died. Eleven Georgians also died.

The RTL News correspondent remembers it like it was yesterday: “At first I saw almost nothing, because a bang created a huge cloud of dust. It was accompanied by a storm of metal particles flying through the air from all directions. I also have a bullet in my limb.
