Venezuelan Oil Tanker Seizure: US-Venezuela Tensions Rise

by Archynetys News Desk

Carrying out a shameless act of international piracy, which represents a new step towards direct aggression on the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the US Administration has boarded and seized by military means an oil tanker with a capacity of 320,000 gross tons.

The operation was allegedly conducted jointly by the US Special Forces, Marines and Coast Guard, under the pretext that the crude oil would be sent to Iran, violating the US embargo against it.

A spokeswoman for the US administration announced that the tanker will be docked in a US port and that the oil will be seized, i.e. stolen.

As the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Italy states in a statement, “already in his 2024 election campaign, Trump had openly stated that his objective has always been to appropriate Venezuelan oil without paying any compensation in exchange, clarifying that the policy of aggression against our country responds to a deliberate plan to plunder our energy riches. This new criminal act adds to the theft of Citgo, an important resource of the strategic assets of all Venezuelans, stolen through fraudulent judicial mechanisms and outside of any rules.”

Venezuela owns the world’s main oil reserve and the people of the South American state, through PDVSA, are its owners.

The United States now clearly states that it intends to take this resource away from Venezuela. During his presidential election campaign, Donald Trump claimed that Venezuelans are sitting on a sea of oil and that the US has to pay for it.

Republican Congresswoman Salazar couldn’t have been clearer. In an interview with Fox Business he stated that “for Western oil companies, Venezuela will be a golden opportunity, generating over a trillion dollars in economic activity. We will be doing our economy and our oil companies a favor.”

A few hours after the seizure of the tanker, the President of the Nobel Prize (awarded to Corina Machado, leader of the right-wing opposition and in favor of US military intervention) Jorgen Watne Frydnes called on the legitimate elected President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, to resign. But in the meantime, an unauthorized procession made up of many people from all over Europe marched in Oslo against the ignoble awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to Machado the following day.

A pincer maneuver is underway, coordinated at a military, media and political level, which aims at the subversion of the Government and the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, i.e. the institutions born from the free vote of citizens and fought by a minority opposition which has not hesitated to use terrorism, the sabotage of electoral processes and the invocation of military intervention

foreigner.

The preparation of the attack on Venezuela which, under the pretext of the fight against drug trafficking (trafficking in which the Bolivarian government is not involved), began with the deployment of US ships and marines near the territorial waters of the South American state, saw the killing of dozens of fishermen and people on board small boats, hit by US fire with the unproven accusation that they were drug traffickers. The seizure of the oil tanker is a further step on an inclined plane in a race that now seems unstoppable.

The Bolivarian people and armed forces will react, with the support of all civilized people and nations, against the imperialism of the USA and the servility of their allies, with Italy unfortunately in the front row.

And so Donald Trump, who boasts of having ended many wars, is about to start another one, also threatening the Colombian government of Gustavo Petro and in fact, for now not explicitly, socialist Cuba itself.

The Italian Communist Party is engaged at all possible levels in the mobilization in support of the Bolivarian Revolution and in denouncing the lies and “fake news” artfully fabricated to justify US imperialism’s aggression against the Venezuelan people and their revolution.

Once again, as predicted by “Libertador” Simon Bolivar in 1829, “the United States seems destined by providence to plunge America into misery in the name of freedom.”
