At the end of the first quarter of the season, we find impressive numbers imposed by the Venezuelans. However, it doesn’t all stop there. Training and saddle experts continue to chase those big numbers that would set them apart from everyone else and pose a challenge to future generations who want to achieve those feats. A mark that will last over time.

Generation of replacement prevails in spades

The new generations of Venezuelan jockeys and trainers are bearing fruit as they begin their professional careers. Such is the case of the riders Christopher Elliott, Jean Greagor Briceño and Mychel Sánchez, as well as the experienced trainer Víctor Barboza Jr., who posted their first emblematic numbers of the season.

Christopher Elliottconsidered the best apprentice rider in the nation until July, after achieving his professional degree. On April 6, he achieved his 100th career victory, via the exemplary Just Words for trainer Jamest Ryerson, at Aqueduct, New York.

Victor Barboza Jr.On April 10, he achieved his 600th career victory in northern lands, through Lady Patrick’s, under the leadership of jockey José Ocasio, at Gulfstream Park, during the Palm Meet Sprint Summer.

Mychel Sanchezconsidered the best Venezuelan rider in recent years due to his great performance, reached 1,600 victories on April 13, with the exemplary Urban Symphony, for the trainers’ champion Jamie Ness, in Parx Racing.

The month of April concluded with the 100 chartered for the rider Jean Gregor Bricenowho showed off his best skills on the exemplary Sugar Bee, trained by Milan Milosevic, a victory achieved at the Laurel Park racetrack.
