Despite arriving within the designated time slot,they were initially told they were late.Moreover, a discrepancy arose regarding passport photo requirements, leading to an unneeded detour to the main train station. If Simon hadn’t been there, it would not have been going well, Sagno acknowledged, highlighting the crucial role Rieken played in advocating for him.

After a successful one-week internship, Rieken initially hired Sagno as a temporary worker before offering him an apprenticeship. Despite facing language barriers, sagno has excelled in the practical aspects of his training, achieving top marks in his class. Rieken proudly announced that Sagno has passed grade 2 with flying colors. To further support his academic progress, Sagno will receive tutoring starting in May. With the passport secured, the path to obtaining a “training tolerance” permit is now clear.Elisabeth Olbing from the Refugee Council, who assists Sagno with bureaucratic matters, and the district of Borken are optimistic about his prospects. Rieken has also secured an apartment for Sagno, providing him with a stable living environment and a sense of belonging.
