It was billed as one of the best games of the college basketball season. The top spot in the Atlantic Ten was up for grabs on Friday night as the VCU Rams visited Chaifetz Arena in downtown St. Louis.
The game was a rematch of the matchup played on January 7th in Richmond, where the Billikens came away with a 71-62 win over the Rams.
Following a Saint Louis loss on Tuesday to Rhode Island, they fell to 24-2 overall and 12-1 in the A-10. The Rams came into the game with a 21-6 record and were winners of 10 straight games. The Rams were 12-2 in league play.

At the 8:00 timeout in the first half, the Billikens climbed back to within nine, as the VCU Rams led 29-19 with 7:15 remaining. The next four minutes saw the teams go back and forth and trade blows. The last media timeout has hit, and the Rams still have a lead of 37-26 lead, 3:52 left in the first half.
The Billikens cuthe game to within 6, but then, VCU hit a three. The Billikens got a bucket back, but two VCU free throws as the clock expired in the first half put the lead at 42-33 for VCU.
