Mark van Bommel has yet to find a new club since leaving Antwerp after a fantastic season. However, there is no shortage of offers. According to De Telegraaf, he has refused no less than four in recent weeks. And there is a very specific reason behind this.

Celtic Glasgow offered the Dutchman a contract to become their new manager, but he refused. Bad news for Club Brugge because the Scottish club is still thinking about Nicky Hayen. Van Bommel also received three offers from the Middle East, but he did not accept them.
A future in the Middle East?
Here’s why, according to De Telegraaf: “Mark simply wants to stay with his son Ruben. The winger, who arrived at PSV from AZ, suffered a serious injury and is recovering from cruciate ligament surgery. A family man, Van Bommel puts his family first. However, it is possible that he will sign in the Middle East soon, as he has had positive discussions with several clubs. He has been impressed by the prospects offered by these clubs. In Belgium, his name had been associated with Anderlecht a few months ago, but he was not interested in an adventure at RSCA.
