This goal, which was officially scored 76 seconds into the Madrid Derby, is the fastest goal in the entire history of the Spanish Super Cup, surpassing the one scored by Mario Mandžukić also in an Atlético match against Real Madrid, but in the 2014 edition. At that time the Croatian scored the ball for his team 81 seconds after the opening whistle was given.
Furthermore, this is Valverde’s first goal with the Merengue shirt after having scored twice in the FIFA Club World Cup, his last goal being the one he scored against RB Salzburg on June 26, 2025.
