Rome, 3 Nov. (Adnkronos) – “In recent days I was in Bolzano and met the RSU of the Valbruna steelworks, an important company with five hundred employees. I’m talking about it because I think the situation in which this steelworks finds itself is quite interesting from the point of view of the general theme of deindustrialisation: it is the demonstration that a deindustrialisation party exists, there are pushes that go in this direction, it is not only the result of the difficulty in facing this new phase of transformation for many Italian industries. The Acciaierie Valbruna is on land belonging to the Autonomous Province of Bolzano which has issued a new tender which doubles the fees for the next few years. On the basis of this doubling of the fee, but also of a series of conditions which are put as a prerequisite for the issuing of a new authorization to use that land, this industry could go away”. Thus in a video published on social media the former Minister of Labor and head of Pd industrial policies Andrea Orlando.
“This is a curious fact. In the rest of Italy, unless there are issues of an environmental nature, in this case there are none, usually the local autonomies work for the establishment of new industries – he continues – especially as in this case, which are located in sectors of a strategic nature. A contradiction is thus created between the Bolzano council, governed by the right and the Südtiroler Volkspartei, and the statements of the national government. On the one hand the Government in Rome says that it is strategic to defend steel, especially given what is happening to the former Ilva, on the other hand is part of a majority that works to hinder the maintenance of a production reality like Valbruna”.
“At a certain point they tried to propose Minister Urso’s solution with the Golden power. But why should Golden power be used if it would simply be enough to create the conditions so that the company is not called into question? To manage a political contradiction. Meanwhile, our political initiative has stimulated the fact that a table has been convened in Rome to address the problem. It is a first step, we will follow the matter with great attention because we can afford everything except losing productive realities, especially in strategic sectors“, he concludes.
