In the past, handwritten holiday cards to family and friends belonged to a successful vacation. Deutsche Post has an ever smaller demand for mailing and postcard shipping. In Denmark, the letter delivery will be completely stopped for the coming year. But is the postcard from vacation a discontinued model?
This is what the shops say
Bianca Jürgensen from the Gosch bookstore in the downtown Kappelner can only deny this question: “On the contrary. To write postcards, seems to be more trendy again.”

Claudia Teichmann also knows that postcards would be taken from Kappeln visitors. The co-boss of the “På Petter” business in the city center also sells stamps in the integrated post office. These would be very popular: “There is a lot going on with us when it comes to stamps at home and abroad. They are really bought a lot.” Postcards of a Kappelner artist are also offered in your shop. “Some customers buy the cards, write them and send them right away,” says Teichmann.
Is number 1 among young people of messenger?
Lina Sophie Peters (16) and Laura Paulsen (15) from Schleswig do not want to know anything about it. “Of course we also send selfies to WhatsApp, but a postcard is much more personal. We still like to send postcards to the family. Friends or acquaintances are more likely to get a photo or ‘snap’ from the beach,” reports the 16-year-old.

The young Schleswiger also criticizes her own age group: “The youth are so media -controlled. So many are already sitting on the cell phone from the morning. It is a shame if postcards are sent less and less and people are trying out less and less.”
The hand -written holiday map is still very popular.

Laura Paulsen agrees with her girlfriend in the assessment and indicates that you are happy to write vacation greetings by hand. Her card motifs with lots of water, beach or animals such as seals are preferable.
