In the game against the Washington Capitals in the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Kane collected his 1,375th scorer point. There was a constant ovation and thunderous cheers.
He achieved the milestone in the second third with an assist on a goal and once again underlined his importance for his team’s game. In the end, they had to admit defeat to the Capitals 3-4 in the penalty shootout.
The 37-year-old had already set the record two days earlier when he also contributed an assist in the home defeat against the Los Angeles Kings. Now he is alone at the top, leaving another big mark in his career behind.
In what is now his 19th NHL season, Kane overtook the long-standing record set by Mike Modano, who had held the record since November 2007. With this success, Kane finally joins the ranks of the league’s most influential personalities.
