The United States armed forces reported on Wednesday (12/17/2025) a new attack against an alleged drug boat in Pacific waters, with a death toll of four.
“Intelligence services confirmed that the ship was transiting a known drug trafficking route in the eastern Pacific and was carrying out drug trafficking operations,” stated the publication in X of the US Southern Command.
Since the anti-drug campaign began in September, the United States has carried out more than 25 attacks of this type, which have left at least 99 dead.
The new attack was announced amid increased tensions with Venezuela, after President Donald Trump claimed that the South American country has “stolen” US oil and assets.
On Tuesday, Trump ordered the seizure of all sanctioned Venezuelan oil tankers, as they did with one last week in the Caribbean that was towed to a US port.
With this new attack, more than 30 boats have been destroyed and at least a hundred people have been killed, supposedly associated with organized crime, although the Trump government has not published details of their identities.
The United States maintains a strong military presence on the Venezuelan coast and the Republican president has not ruled out attacks on land targets soon, justifying them in the fight against drug trafficking.
