US Glove Company Buys Pixelle Mill | Chillicothe, OH

Officials announced Friday that the Pixelle Specialty Solutions, previously set to close and eliminate hundreds of jobs, was purchased by a nitrile gloves manufacturer.

Senator Bernie Moreno joined local officials and business leaders to announce that U.S. Medical Glove Company will repurpose the mill to manufacture medical gloves. HIG Capital announced the mill closure in April, leaving nearly 800 workers shocked and soon to be without jobs.

“For over 200 years, the Pixelle paper mill has been a cornerstone of the community, employing generations of Ohioans,” said Senator Moreno. “U.S. Medical Glove Co.’s investment in Chillicothe will revitalize Ohio manufacturing and bring high-paying wages to families in Ross County that allow them to live with dignity.”

U.S. Medical Glove has positioned itself as an American alternative to buying personal protective equipment from China. Sen. Moreno said the company closed on the property on Tuesday at 3 p.m. In the days since, the company has been busy cleaning up and converting the property.

Sixty hires have already been made as they ramp up operations.
