Withings is finally bringing its U-Scan to German retailers, the second round of Dr. Toilet. This is a “urinalysis laboratory” for your smart home, as the manufacturer itself unabashedly describes it. More than seven years of research are said to have gone into this product. Withing U-Scan enables regular, automatic analysis of urine samples directly in the bathroom. The system combines a smart reader with interchangeable test cartridges that cover different health areas.
Two variants are available at launch: The U-Scan Nutrio helps to better understand nutrition and metabolism by measuring biomarkers such as pH, hydration, ketones and vitamin C. U-Scan Calci helps monitor kidney health by measuring values such as calcium, pH and urine concentration, thereby revealing risk factors for kidney stones. You can then automatically synchronize the results with the Withings app and have them processed there.
The Withings U-Scan Nutrio will be available from October 29, 2025 on withings.com for 349.95 euros (RRP). U-Scan Calci will be released at the same time in limited quantities at the same price. The device is hooked into the toilet and then does its job there. U-Scan performs detection via a heat sensor and then automatically collects urine samples. A small amount of urine is collected and analyzed by the device. This requires replaceable cartridges, which you guessed it, you have to buy regularly. This can create a continuous stream of income for Withings.
Within a few minutes, the results of your urine sample will be processed on the device and transmitted to the Withings app via Wi-Fi. There you can view values for hydration, nutritional balance, calcium trends and other parameters. With the optional and paid subscription Withings+, this data is translated into analyzes and personalized recommendations. Each cartridge lasts for up to three months of use, depending on testing frequency. For regular deep cleaning, U-Scan comes with a station that fully charges and cleans the reader within three hours.
Withing U-Scan Nutrio and Calci: This is what the variants measure
U-Scan Nutrio regularly measures four biomarkers in the urine: the pH value for the acid-base balance (urine pH), the HydroStatus (specific gravity) as well as ketones and vitamin C. This makes the metabolism visible. U-Scan Calci regularly measures three parameters: the calcium level, the pH value of the urine (acid-base balance) and the specific gravity (HydroStatus). In this way, signs of kidney stone formation are detected.

- Intensive package – €429.95 (5-7 analyzes per week, 2 cartridges included and access to Withings+)
Subscriptions for automatic cartridge change:
- Proactive package – €33.32 per month for 1 cartridge (billed quarterly: €99.95, including cleaning and charging station)
- Intensive package – €59.99 per month for 2 cartridges (billed quarterly: €179.95, including cleaning and charging station)
According to Withings, each subscription includes a three-month supply of urine tests.
