the United Nations University (UNU) is accepting applications for its Fall 2025 Junior Fellows Internship Program, hosted at the Office of the Rector in TOKYO, Japan. This full-time internship offers graduate students and recent graduates experience within the United Nations system.
The six-month internship runs from August 26, 2025, to Febuary 25, 2026.The application deadline is May 31, 2025, by 23:59 japan Standard Time.

Junior Fellows Internship Programme
The Junior Fellows Internship Programme offers young professionals experience within a UN agency, supporting institutional development, event coordination, and strategic dialog.
Interns contribute to the University’s work in policy research, administrative planning, and outreach, playing a role in helping the UNU advance global knowledge and public policy.
Who Should Apply
This program is for:
- Current or recent postgraduate students (Master’s or PhD level)
- Individuals under 32 years of age
- Applicants with a strong command of English (French is a plus)
- Professionals with fewer than 5 years of work experience
- Individuals with an interest in the UN system and sustainable development
A position may be available in PARIS for an applicant fluent in both English and French.
Responsibilities of Junior Fellows
junior Fellows support the Office of the Rector in areas including:
- Preparing executive and information briefs
- Conducting institutional research and analysis
- Supporting event planning (lectures, workshops, conferences)
- editorial work, including proofreading and formatting reports
- Drafting newsletters, social media posts, and official communications
- Managing meeting logistics and minute-taking
- Developing project management and analytical tools
Interns work full-time, Monday to Friday (9:30 am to 5:30 pm JST).A monthly stipend is provided to those not receiving financial support.
Training and Work Environment
The internship begins with a one-week orientation.Interns have access to the UNU’s library,gym,and academic and professional events. Remote working arrangements may be considered.
