JEDDAH – 12-6 (KUNA) — The Muslim World League on Saturday welcomed the United Nations General Assembly’s approval to extend the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), praising the international community’s solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of grave violations and forced displacement plans being hatched against them.
The Secretary-General of the Association and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Muhammad Al-Issa, stressed in a statement the importance of this solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Al-Issa praised the international community’s overwhelming majority behind a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, especially in light of the continuing grave violations and forced displacement plans by the occupation authorities, including the rejected statements related to organizing a one-way crossing through the Rafah crossing towards Egyptian territory.
He stressed the urgent need to put an end to this escalatory approach, which has become habitual criminal behavior for the occupation government in the context of its violations of international laws and norms, while working seriously on measures to oblige it to fully and immediately comply with US President Donald Trump’s plan with all its entitlements and to ensure the full implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 2803 and all relevant international resolutions.
It is noteworthy that 151 countries approved the proposal to extend UNRWA at a session held by the United Nations General Assembly yesterday, Friday, while 9 countries opposed it and 14 others abstained from voting. (end) fn/tj
