Italian influencer Camilla De Pandis was criticized on social media for using a disabled pass at Universal Studios Orlando, sparking a heated debate over the responsibility of content creators.
As reported by “Leggo”, content creator Camilla De Pandis – who has more than 700,000 followers on Instagram and 1.5 million on TikTok – found herself at the center of a heated controversy after publishing a vlog filmed during her vacation at Universal Studios in Orlando.
In the video, we can see a “Disability Pass”, the document which allows disabled or anxious people to wait less time at attractions. Camilla De Pandis showed it as if it were a joke to avoid the queue.
A wave of criticism
What the influencer had imagined as a joke quickly turned into a controversy.
In a few hours, the clip sparked indignation and outraged comments from many users denouncing the lack of respect towards those who really depend on these passes to be able to experience the park in dignified conditions.
Some spoke of a dangerous lightness, others took the opportunity to raise a broader question: the responsibility of those who communicate online and the weight that certain gestures can have on fragile communities.
Bypass the queue
Overwhelmed by criticism, the TikToker intervened on social networks – first with a written comment, then with a video – to take responsibility for what had happened and apologize, as reported by “Adnkronos”.
She explained that she was wrong to obtain the pass to avoid the queue, clarifying that she had no intention of making fun of people with disabilities, but that it was an impulsive gesture that she now regretted.
The contested parts of the video were removed, she stressed, to avoid giving the impression that such behavior could be considered normal.
Camilla added that she had close relationships with people with different forms of disabilities in her life and never meant to disrespect anyone.
“My only intention was to bypass the queue, not to make fun of anyone,” she assured, reiterating her regret for the consequences of this affair.
