Silver Spring, Maryland (June 24, 2025) – Nonprofit developer MHP invites the public to attend a barbecue open house at the Unity Place apartment in southeast Washington, D.C. to celebrate the apartment’s recent renovations. The event will bring together existing and potential residents from different cultures and backgrounds to enjoy hot dogs and refreshments together.
June 28thday Events have been designed Showcase existing apartments and create a waitlist for potential tenants. The property currently offers Rent-free promotion Valid until August this year and new applications are currently being accepted. Property management staff will answer questions about the Unity Place facility on site.
Unity Place is ideally located just minutes from South Capitol Street, located in the Capitol Heights neighborhood in southeastern Washington, D.C. with easy access to downtown Washington, D.C. and public Convenient transportation. Unity Place is one of the most value-for-money homes in southeast Washington, D.C., with a well-maintained surroundings just minutes from shopping, dining and service venues.
Unity Place (formerly Worthington Woods) is MHP’s largest property to date, with 394 affordable housing units. Since September 2023, MHP has begun a comprehensive renovation of the property, with a total investment of CAD 132 million.
MHP acquired Unity Place in 2019 and developed a plan to maintain long-term affordability and prevent residents from being displaced. MHP limits 100% of the number of apartment homes to only residents whose income is equal to or less than 60% of the area’s median, as part of its commitment to expanding housing access for members of low- and middle-income communities.
The nonprofit developer is building a new community center to serve residents in Unity Place and the neighborhood of affordable housing communities. The center will accommodate MHP’s iconic community life and outreach programs, including preschool and after-school classes, summer expansion programs, food fundraising, career development courses and more! As the renovation and construction of the community center goes smoothly, MHP recently launched a Spring Activities Raise the funds needed to make these initiatives a reality in Unity Place.
