United Airlines and Spotify Partner to Enhance In-Flight Entertainment

Passengers can now enjoy over 450 hours of free content, including audiobooks and video podcasts, on united flights.

A new collaboration between United Airlines and Spotify aims to elevate the in-flight entertainment experience. Passengers can now access more than 450 hours of content for free on over 130,000 seatback screens, many of which boast 4K resolution and Bluetooth audio compatibility.

This marks the first time Spotify has offered audiobooks and video podcasts on an airline. United travelers can enjoy over 65 pieces of content, including popular titles such as “Good Hang with Amy Poehler”, “The Dave Chang Show”, and “The Comment section with Drew Afualo”.

Next year, United passengers will be able to log in to their Spotify accounts on the in-flight entertainment screens using their personal devices. This will allow them to seamlessly resume their favorite podcasts, music, and audiobooks where they left off.

Spotify content will be available on more than 680 United aircraft and will be featured as a new content category labeled “Spotify.” This category replaces “audio” in the main menu and includes channels for podcasts, video podcasts, audiobooks, and playlists. in the coming months, most aircraft will also feature a dedicated “Spotify” channel for easy access to all Spotify content.

On aircraft equipped with Starlink, passengers can listen to Spotify content on their personal devices without interruption. They simply need to log in to their Mileagelus account and accept Starlink’s terms and conditions. From there, they can open the Spotify app and stream content as they would at home.
