The Union’s Amateur Theater Festival Returns in 2025: A Festivity of Living Art


A weekend immersion in Theatrical Arts

Since its inception in 2019, The Union’s annual amateur theater festival has become a cornerstone of the local arts scene. This vibrant event, a marathon of living art, unites theater associations to present a diverse array of performances. The 2025 edition, scheduled from April 4th to 6th, promises another engaging weekend for theater enthusiasts.

Collaborative Effort, Diverse Performances

This year’s festival is a collaborative effort between the Mocking Oiseau troupe, the Olivier theater, the National Federation of Amateur Theater Companies (FNCTA), and the City of The Union.Together, thay will present eleven distinct shows. Staging such a concentrated program requires meticulous planning and the utilization of two key venues: the village hall and the Foyer de la Grande Halle.

Festival Schedule: A Detailed Look

The festival kicks off on Friday, April 4th, at 8:00 PM in the village hall. Following the opening, the company To Be and Appear will present The Roasters of Dreams by Serge Mascheroni at 8:30 PM.

Saturday’s Lineup: From Youthful Tales to Feydeau’s Farce

Saturday’s performances begin at 11:00 AM in the village hall with a show for young audiences, The Words are Gypsy by Laetitia Ajanohun. At 2:00 PM, the Sassafs company will perform Intramural by Alexis Michalik. Spectators will then move to the Grande Halle at 4:00 PM for the Compagnie du Strapontin‘s production of Emy and EMA by Guy Foissy.

The evening continues with a touch of classic French farce as Feydeau’s Léonie is Ahead is presented by the Scene Scene in Itself at 5:15 PM in the village hall. Returning to the Grande Halle at 6:30 PM, audiences can enjoy Sarah and the Cry of the lobster by Cie Arsenic.The day concludes back at the village hall with an interlude at 8:45 PM,followed by Biche ô Labiche by the Cie du Beau Fixe.

Sunday’s Finale: Three Shows to Conclude the Festival

The festival concludes on Sunday, April 6th, with three final performances. the Cie Les Z’amateurs will present Le Hangar at 3:00 PM in the village hall. At 4:45 PM, The Guêpes of the Summer Still Bite Us in November will be performed at the Foyer de la grande halle. The festival culminates with Sexture? at 6:15 PM.
