Beirut – January 16 (KUNA) – The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Friday called on the Israeli occupation army to carry out its duty to ensure the safety of peacekeepers and stop any actions that might expose them to danger.
UNIFIL said in a statement that while carrying out a planned patrol near the Al-Adisa area yesterday, Thursday, peacekeepers received a warning from local residents about a potential danger in a house, where they found an explosive device connected to a detonation cord.
She indicated that the peacekeepers cordoned off the area and prepared to search another house, “however, a short time later, a drone flying in the air dropped a hand grenade about 30 meters from the soldiers’ location.”
She stated that she had sent the occupation army a request for a ceasefire, noting that no casualties were recorded.
The international force explained that such activities carried out by the Israeli occupation army on Lebanese territory “endanger local civilians and constitute a violation of Security Council Resolution No. 1701.”
On the other hand, the Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced in a statement that two people were killed in two Israeli raids in southern Lebanon.
The center said that a raid launched by the Israeli occupation in the morning on a truck in the town of (Al-Mansouri) in the (Tyre) region led to the death of a citizen, and another raid targeted a car in the town of (Mifdoun) in the (Nabatieh) region, which led to the death of another citizen.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation forces continue to target towns, cars, and motorcycles, mainly in southern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreement that began on November 27, 2024. (The End) EB/SAE
