In Dakar, UNICEF strongly condemns a vast alleged network of sexual exploitation of children which operated between 2016 and 2024.
In a statement released on February 26, 2026 in Dakar, UNICEF expresses its deep concern over extremely serious allegations concerning an alleged network of sexual exploitation of children.
According to available information, several minors in vulnerable situations have suffered repeated abuse, acts of manipulation and coercion. There are also accusations of deliberate exposure to HIV in order to increase their dependence.
UNICEF calls on the competent authorities to continue investigations with rigor, independence and transparency so that justice is done. The organization also emphasizes the need to avoid any stigma linked to HIV and to guarantee medical and psychosocial support adapted to victims.
She reaffirms her commitment alongside the government to strengthen child protection systems.
