Under-Eating: Signs & Recovery

“My body fat percentage became unhealthily low as a result, with all the associated physical consequences”

For years, Jutta was admired by many young girls, partly thanks to her appearance and large presence on social media. But behind that perfect picture was a difficult struggle. “Every summer I ended up in a vicious circle. I ate far too little, while at the same time I trained really hard. As a result, my fat percentage became unhealthily low, with all the physical consequences that entails,” she says.

The fact that she is talking about this now is a conscious choice. Jutta not only wants to achieve sporting success, but also want to mean something to others. “I am also committed to getting young people to exercise more. I think it is very important that children spend less time behind a screen.” According to her, playing outside and exercising are good alternatives. “I think about how I can help encourage young people to exercise more.”

She now actually knows how to convey that inspiration. “I get a lot of messages from girls who say that I started skating. I think that’s great.”

Jutta also spoke openly about her experiences with extreme weight loss, a theme that affects many young women. She indicated that she started obsessing about her weight at the age of 16, especially during the summer months. “I was working on it day in and day out. It became a game for me to test with it. I felt good.”

In addition, Jutta does not shy away from addressing other sensitive topics, such as menstrual complaints in sports. “I also wanted to say it in front of the camera, because it is a thing in sports. If you are not fit at an important tournament because of this, it is actually super difficult, because you cannot do anything about it,” said the skater.

It was previously shown how Jutta experienced extra pressure from her millions of followers. You can see more about that in the video below.
