The pre-packaged, sealed-crust sandwich known as Uncrustables continues to see rising sales, according to recent reports. this comes even as conventional peanut butter and jelly sales have softened.

The J.M. Smucker Co. is on track to meet its objective of $1 billion in annual Uncrustables sales during the current fiscal year, company executives have stated. The company plans to maintain this growth through limited-edition product releases and marketing initiatives.

Uncrustables Outpace Traditional PB&J

Despite the relative ease of assembling a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, consumers are increasingly choosing the convenience of Uncrustables. During a recent conference call, CEO Mark Smucker noted that while sales of Jif peanut butter and Smucker’s jam experienced a year-over-year decline in the last quarter, Uncrustables sales increased.

“We definitely think there’s growth beyond … $1 billion.”

Uncrustables sales jumped 15% in fiscal year 2025, reaching $920 million, according to company reports.The pre-made sandwich now accounts for over 10% of J.M. Smucker’s total annual sales, which include pet food, Folgers, and Café Bustelo coffee.

Expansion and future Growth

The goal of reaching $1 billion in annual sales has been a priority for J.M. Smucker as at least 2021, when Uncrustables sales were approximately half that amount. Mark Smucker mentioned at a conference in March that the company intends to sustain growth through innovative product variations, marketing strategies, and expanded distribution.

According to a transcript provided by AlphaSense, Smucker stated, “We definitely think there’s growth beyond … $1 billion. And we’ve talked about how long it took us to figure out how to make these things in a profitable and mass-produced high-quality way. And now that we’re doing that, we can realy fire on all cylinders and drive the growth.”

New Plant and Price Adjustments

To meet the high demand for Uncrustables, J.M. Smucker inaugurated a $1.1 billion production facility in Alabama last year. Company executives anticipate that demand for the product will remain strong even with price increases. J.M. Smucker recently increased the list price of Uncrustables for the first time in three years, according to Smucker. CFO Tucker Marshall indicated that the company’s 2026 forecast includes a low-single-digit percentage price increase.

Uncrustables have long been popular among high-profile figures, including musicians like Drake and athletes such as Travis Kelce, according to various news outlets. Athletes often cite the snack’s calorie and protein content as beneficial for performance. A 2023 article in the Wall Street Journal noted that the sandwich’s appeal has extended beyond sports and schools to corporate offices.

The Ohio-based company plans to further boost interest in Uncrustables with limited-time fillings, as mentioned by Mark Smucker during the earnings call. He stated that they have “begun launching a regular cadence of limited edition flavors starting this summer with a new peanut butter and mixer berry spread variety.”

Shares of J.M. Smucker experienced a decline of nearly 16% on Tuesday after the company reported lower-than-expected fourth-quarter sales and a more conservative outlook than analysts had anticipated.
