recent reports indicate a critically important surge in civilian casualties within the Koursk region, a Russian territory bordering Ukraine. Since August 2024, the area has been embroiled in intense fighting, initially sparked by a Ukrainian offensive. The conflict’s impact on the civilian population is now becoming starkly apparent, with hundreds reported dead or injured.

According to regional authorities, the Koursk region has suffered immensely as the Ukrainian offensive began. The governor, Alexandre Khinsteïn, stated on Telegram that the number of casualties continues to climb as investigators uncover more evidence from the recently reclaimed territories.

Since august (2024), 791 people have undergone bodily damage in the Koursk region, 288 of which died and 430 have been hospitalized.
