More than 111,000 people have submitted asylum requests in Britain during the past twelve months, which constitutes a record according to an official population published yesterday.
The British Ministry of the Interior issued these numbers, while the government of the Labor Party headed by Kiir Starmer, which has taken power since July 2024, is facing local officials and residents who oppose the accommodation of tens of thousands of asylum seekers in hotels.
A total of 111,084 people has submitted asylum requests between June 2024 and June 2025, the highest number registered in 12 months since the start of the registration of this data in 2001.
About 32,059 asylum seekers were housed in hotels at the end of June, an increase of 8 % on an annual basis, but a slight decrease from March, and a sharp decrease from the highest record level of 56.042 at the end of September 2023.
The Labor Party pledged an end to the use of asylum seekers for hotels before the upcoming elections, which are likely to take place in 2029, in an effort to provide billions of pounds.
But more than 50,000 people arrived in the English coast of France via the manching on dilapidated boats since Starmer took prime minister in July last year.
