UAE Tourism Boom: Latest Trends & Growth

Abu Dhabi: The tourism sector in the UAE is on the rise. In the first nine months of this year, 2327 crore visitors stayed in hotels in the country. This is an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the previous year. As a result, hotel revenue increased by 7.2 percent (Dh 3,590 crore) compared to the previous year period.

Tourism has contributed 25,730 crore dirhams to the UAE’s domestic production this year. This is 13 percent of the national economy. Average occupancy at the hotel rose to 79.2 percent. The number of rooms occupied increased by 3.5 percent to 4.617 crore. The average daily rent for 2,16,248 rooms from 1,246 hotel establishments in the country was recorded at Dhs 557. In addition to the growth in tourism, there has been a good growth in the aviation sector this year.

By the end of September, 10,859 crore passengers had come and gone through Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah International Airports. This year, many innovative schemes have been announced in the country in the field of tourism. The AED 200 crore Thermae Dubai Wellness and Entertainment Centre, Abu Dhabi’s Interactive Butterfly Sanctuary, WIN Al Marjan Island Hotel and Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, Awani-Fujairah Resort to open in 2028, AED 350 crore project Al Tai Hills and The Creek at Umm Al Khuwain The second phase of the Waterfront project and innovative projects include the Disney theme park-resort at Yas Island, which is considered one of the largest entertainment projects in the world. The tourism sector has recorded strong growth and has become one of the most vibrant economic sectors in the country, supported by world-class infrastructure, major projects and strong competitiveness indices. The region has also managed to attract a large number of investors and visitors to the UAE.
