TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A woman is in the hospital, and a man was arrested following a stabbing on the University of Arizona campus on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

The university said neither the victim nor the suspect appears to be a student.

“We know this news is unsettling, and our thoughts are with those directly affected,” the school said in a release. “Out of an abundance of caution, please continue to avoid the Main Library area while police complete their investigation.”

The University of Arizona Police Department said it happened at the Main Library, located at 1510 East University Boulevard, around 2:12 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Tucson Fire Department said it “can confirm that Tucson Fire transported a person from that address to the hospital.”

The UAPD said the situation is resolved and there is no longer a threat, but still asked people to avoid the area.

The university said its Crisis Mobile Team is on site to provide support to those directly impacted, and the incident remains under investigation.

Anyone impacted can visit Campus Health’s Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) website for more information about services available to them. Students can call 520-621-3334.
