Gino D’Acampo Denies Accusations of Inappropriate Behavior on TV Shows
The TV chef Gino D’Acampo is facing allegations of inappropriate behavior, including the use of sexualized and aggressive language, over a span of 12 years. An investigation by ITV News uncovered numerous claims of misconduct against D’Acampo, described as “unacceptable” and “distressing” by accusers.
Accusations and Denial
D’Acampo strongly denied the allegations, stating, “These allegations are simply not in my nature” and describing them as deeply upsetting. The chef’s career began in the early 2000s as a judge on the ITV cookery competition, Too Many Cooks, before he gained fame as a winner of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! in 2009.
Since then, D’Acampo has become a regular fixture on ITV’s popular daytime show, This Morning, and has also hosted several of his own cooking programmes, as well as presenting the ITV gameshow Family Fortunes.
Allegations Detailed
The ITV News investigation revealed allegations made by women working on shows such as Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, Gino’s Italian Express, and Gino’s Italy – Like Mamma Used to Make. One woman alleged that D’Acampo made sexualized comments towards her during a magazine shoot in 2011.
Another claimed to have witnessed D’Acampo threatening a young colleague in 2019. Two more women accused him of making sexual remarks while working on Gordon, Gino And Fred’s Road Trip in 2018.
Production Companies’ Responses
The response from the production companies involved has varied. Objective Media Group, which co-produced Gordon, Gino And Fred’s Road Trip in 2018, said it takes the welfare of its production staff very seriously and includes behavioral clauses in talent contracts.
MultiStory Media, producer of Gino’s Italian Express, will review the concerns and take appropriate action. Studio Ramsay, which produced Gino’s Italian Family Adventure and co-produced Gordon, Gino And Fred’s Road Trip in 2018, also stated it takes all allegations of inappropriate behavior seriously and will promptly investigate.
Legal Stance
D’Acampo’s legal team has maintained that he categorically denies the allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior. They added that some of the accused incidents are considered “fabricated.” D’Acampo’s representatives said he was repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programmes during the period in question.
Call to Action
This investigation raises significant questions about workplace conduct and the responsibility of production companies to ensure a safe working environment. We encourage all stakeholders to continue to address these issues with transparency and integrity.
