On behalf of the OST regional handball association, TV Teufen organized the final games of the cup competitions in the youth division and in the adult categories up to the 2nd league last weekend. A team from our canton also made it to the final; the U19 juniors of TV Appenzell.
TV Appenzell wins the cup final game
A total of twelve final games were played over the weekend in Teufen to determine the handball cup winners in the Eastern Switzerland region. In the active categories of the 2nd league and lower, the semi-final games were also on the program on Saturday. The U19 juniors from TV Appenzell qualified for the final tournament from the two cantons of Appenzell.
In the final game they met their opponents from Winterthur. The game was exciting and balanced for a long time. Only in the final phase did the Inner Rhodes team manage to break away decisively. In the end they prevailed 35:27 and were able to celebrate the cup victory they longed for. The decisive factors for the ultimately clear result were strong goalkeeper performances and a more efficient evaluation of chances than with the final opponent from Winterthur.
TV Teufen handball in anniversary fever
The handball players at TV Teufen are currently in a successful phase. After organizing three youth tournaments in the U9 to U13 categories, the club also organized this cup final tournament. The event went excellently.
The main person responsible, Johannes Schirmer, was very satisfied with the great commitment in the club. He is particularly pleased that many young people are also involved in the team of helpers. “It’s like a family, everyone helps each other,” he says with a smile. “This is how TV Teufen, as host, provides the best advertising for the sport of handball.”
50th anniversary as a highlight in 2026
Organizational talent is particularly in demand among the Teufners this year. The TV Teufen handball team is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer. Preparations are already in full swing. The celebration will take place on August 7th and 8th with a varied program to which the public will also be warmly invited.
Wave of sporting success
Things are also going well for the club in terms of sport at the moment. Both the 3rd league team and the team from the 4th league confidently reached the promotion games and therefore have the chance to compete one league higher in the coming season.
An important basis for this positive development is the consistent promotion of young talent. The TV Teufen handball team is also well positioned in this area. A U13 and a U15 team are successful in regular season operations. The youngest players in the U9 and U12 categories compete in tournament mode.
In the coming year, the club can even further expand its offering. The plan is to form a fifth youth team: a U17 team will start again and try to establish itself successfully.
