Turkey opened a gas deposit in the Black Sea with a reserves of 75 billion cubic meters, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The deposit, the value of which is determined at about $ 30 billion, was found in the Göthepe-3 well, close to the exclusive economic zone of Bulgaria, writes the Turki Tudei news site.

With this deposit we will meet the needs for natural gas of households in Turkey for 3.5 years, Erdogan said during an event in Istanbul, BTA reported.

He specified that the well work began on March 27 and ended yesterday, the Anatolian agency reported.

Turkey’s daily gas production from its leading Sakaria deposit in the Black Sea has reached about 9.5 million cubic meters. The country is enhancing its energy ambitions both in the internal market and abroad, notes Reuters.

Turkey satisfies over 90 percent of its energy needs through imports. Ankara strives to reduce its import costs and increase supply security by developing domestic resources and expanding international partnerships in oil and gas survey.
